Shadows of Colesbrooke by Brandy I. Timmons: January WIPWordSearch Excerpts
January 1, 2024 – Yard
“Ten minutes ago, I was barely two hundred #yards from this spot pulling bullets out of someone. I’m caught in the middle of a war, Sean. A goddamn war!”
January 3, 2024 – Young
Even after stitches and cleaned wounds, the #young woman looked battered. Her pale skin was a deep red mess of fresh, blotched contusions, massive abrasions, and stitches holding together deep lacerations and puncture wounds.
January 4, 2024 – Year
Gary had lived in both the emergency room and operating room blood and gore for thirty #years—Thomas trusted his instincts implicitly. If Gary was worried, Thomas didn’t want to know why.
January 6, 2024 – Vague
Thomas had wanted to ask him more questions about the curse, and the chore list was long and the details #vague. For all Lawrence had talked about how he would show Thomas the ropes, both of being a vampire and a bartender, he’d been infuriatingly carefree about both.
January 8, 2024 – Voice
“No, I’m—I was a surgeon,” Thomas said, trying to keep the melancholy out of his #voice. Whenever he thought of the disaster at the hospital, he was reminded how his life as he knew it was over.
January 9, 2024 -View
“Hawthorn. It makes the best stakes. Or the worst ones, dependin’ on your point of #view.” His voice was a hiss. “It always leaves splinters behind. That bastard is playin’ mighty dirty.”
Moonlit Woods by Brandy I. Timmons: January WIPWordSearch Excerpts
January 2, 2024 – Yearn
The wolf #yearned to leap into a forest and sprint away the frustration and confusion welling within Clara’s chest, and human legs were so awkward the way they pounded and balanced. The speed was terrible, and the short breaths forced by burning lungs were almost unbearable.
January 3, 2024 – Young
The #young man seated next to Laurence wore an equally crestfallen expression. He was tall and gangly and would have been the type who tripped over their own two feet if he weren’t a vampire.
January 4, 2024 – Year
Benjamin’s bored expression meant he wanted to say something else that was probably equally sarcastic, but he held it in. His tendency to be snide was a sort of defense mechanism he’d developed through the #years. It wasn’t an easy habit to shake, especially when his doubting nature made him so averse to serious topics.
January 6, 2024 – Vague
“Listen, I’ve lived in this city for quite some time and I know that this city is unique. There are certain unbelievable populations who live here,” Clara replied, doing her best to be diplomatic and #vague for both her safety and the safety of her relationship with Sean.
January 8, 2024 – Voice
“I’m just happy you planned on us having a reunion,” Clara finally said, her #voice thick with emotions she couldn’t keep down. The wolf howled in frustration, wanting to be free and take over, to channel the overflowing emotions into a vicious attack.
