Some say empathy makes you a weak hunter. That you need to shut off that side of you to survive. Horseshit. Empathy will keep you alive–the mass slaughter of humans for pleasurable feeding will only get you staked. Empathy is why we haven’t died out.
There was a cadence to dying. No matter the melodies preceding the final chords, it always ends abruptly. And he relished in it, enjoying the final measures with his fangs deep in his prey’s neck. Feeling the last heartbeat. The last shuddering pulse.
