Carefully, Artemis began to #divide the contents of the box among Penny, Nelson, Sean, and herself. There were crosses of various designs, ranging from golden ones favored by Roman Catholics to Celtic crosses made from old driftwood. Penny picked a necklace for herself and Nelson and Sean each got a small vial of blessed water for their key chains.

“There’s an amount of subtlety required on both sides, even if it doesn’t seem that way. If this war gets too loud and #drags out too long, it might start attracting attention neither side is willing to deal with.”

Thomas shrugged. “She was a bit intense for me, y’know? I don’t think I could keep up.”

“Tom, doctor extraordinaire, not being able to keep up? You’re underestimating yourself,” Artemis said, smiling as the oven #door snapped shut.

Thomas shifted uncomfortably. In the years he’d known her, Thomas had never seen Artemis ruin a #dish, and she only baked when she was upset.

A slight itch tingled her skin, and Clara glanced down at the thin vampire’s hands and saw a bright gleam on each ring finger. Piano wires #dipped in pure silver.

“The vampires are disorganized and tensions run high. They now fear discovery by the humans and their otherworldly enemies more than ever before. They must reform, rebuild, or they will find themselves further #divided and weakened.”

When they reached the den, the three wolves attacked, digging into the earth to #drag out their victims. Clara turned away. She’d done her job, and she could now smell another group of wandering wolves.

“I woke outside the #door to the Lodge and you were nowhere to be seen. I thought . . . I thought we’d lost you.”

The entire pack was gathered in a chaotic frenzy; everyone talking at once. In the center, Donald was trying to #dish out orders, but he was not authoritative enough.
