Shadows of Colesbrooke by Brandy I. Timmons: October WIPWordSearch Excerpts 2024

October 9, 2024 – Fresh

Her pale skin was a deep red mess of #fresh, blotched contusions, massive abrasions, and stitches holding together deep lacerations and puncture wounds.

October 10, 2024 – Feel/Felt

“It’s what you need, kid. You’ll #feel right as rain, better than a spring chicken, firing on all cylinders, bouncin’ off the walls, brand spankin’ new after a little bit of red stuff.”

Thomas stared at Lawrence in disbelief. The man was crazy.

October 11, 2024 – Firm

A saline and blood drip hung at her bedside, the needle taped #firm in her unbandaged wrist. She was alive, but she looked terrible.

October 12, 2024 – Face

Heavy bags drooped under his hazel eyes, and his #face seemed thinner and longer. He always looked half-dead these days.

October 13, 2024 – Favor/Flavor

“This sun block may keep us from burning to a crisp at noon, but it doesn’t do any #favors for our pores.”

October 14, 2024 – Feather

“Ah, horse #feathers, kid. You can’t be throwing open doors and barging in here when we’re at war. I nearly punched several holes in you.” Lawrence sat back down at his desk with an angry shake of his head. “By my count, you’re a cat runnin’ out of lives.”

October 15, 2024 – Flush

Thomas felt Julia’s eyes on him again. He allowed himself a brief glance. She was grinning mischievously, and his cheeks started to #flush.

October 16, 2024 – For

“This is what I get #for marrying someone so young,” she said, breaking free only to lean in for another kiss. “Lose the stupid slang and you’d be perfect.”

October 9, 2024 – Fresh

There it was. That was the change she’d been looking for. Sean’s brow furrowed as he talked. The wound was still #fresh.

October 10, 2024 – Feel/Felt

Clara managed to steer the conversation back to Chelsea and Nate, and it #felt good to catch up with her friend. The tension remained in her shoulders, but her smile didn’t feel as forced when they headed back to the growing crowd upstairs.

October 11, 2024 – Firm

A roar of surprise, agony, and sheer fury erupted from the injured Howler, who immediately tried to shake off his attacker. Clara held on #firm. Her fangs sank in deeper as her claws began to work furiously, gouging out great swaths of fur and flesh from her opponent’s side.

October 12, 2024 – Face

This Thomas Spencer, Sean’s friend, must have been turned into a vampire, and she was a werewolf about to be #faced with the full moon.

Clara was in trouble.

October 13, 2024 – Favor/Flavor

Even if food was blander now than when she was a human, quality foods with strong #flavors still tasted delicious. It was why the werewolves loved strong coffee so much.

October 14, 2024 – Feather

No word found.

October 15, 2024 – Flush

No word found.

October 16, 2024 – For

It took a lot of willpower #for Clara not to growl at Thomas’s intrusion into their conversation, especially now that Sean was nodding along in agreement with his friend and dashing any hopes she had of leaving this chaotic city with him.
