Shadows of Colesbrooke by Brandy I. Timmons: August WIPWordSearch Excerpts 2024
August 9, 2024 – Tempt
Her heart beat faster, #tempting Thomas further. “Maybe you’ve come out scarred, and maybe you’re afraid of what you might become, but the way I see it you saved Sean’s life and that’s all that matters.”
August 10, 2024 – True/Truth
“That’s #true. I just don’t want to see your face turning up on tomorrow night’s news, okay? It would probably break the glass of every television in Colesbrooke.”
August 11, 2024 – Take/Took
“Now, now, you can #take it slow. No need to jump up like a rabbit in the snow.”
August 12, 2024 – Tense/Tension
“He says someone tried to drink his blood last night,” Penny said, her voice a little #tenser.
“And he thinks he’s a vampire,” Artemis added slowly.
August 13, 2024 – Thanks
“I’m out, Lawrence. I guess, #thanks for saving me. But vampires don’t exist.” Thomas used his newfound energy to head for the door.
August 14, 2024 – Thick/Thin
A thin stream of blood washed through his mouth and throat, relieving the dryness the water had amplified. The cold liquid was #thick and tasted of metal.
August 15, 2024 – Torch
“Those are the vampires who remember mobs with pitchforks and #torches chasing them. They will do anything they can to protect our existence.”
August 16, 2024 – Try/Tried
It wasn’t a full lie. He’d made it safely the second #try. It’d only been his first attempt that went awry.
Moonlit Woods by Brandy I. Timmons: August WIPWordSearch Excerpts 2024
August 9, 2024 – Tempt
“Go. Leave. Get out of the city,” she said, trying her best not to sound like she was pleading to avoid suspicion. “This is just going to get worse.”
For a moment, Sean looked #tempted. He glanced back and forth between Clara and Thomas.
August 10, 2024 – True/Truth
Dammit. He’d avoided revealing the #truth. Clara glanced at her phone. She didn’t have time to cajole it out of him, and she needed to start all over on her packing.
August 11, 2024 – Take/Took
When the wolf inside escaped during the full moon, it #took a hefty price to cage it again: a vampire heart.
August 12, 2024 – Tense/Tension
Another hour passed, and despite her concerns over Sean’s safety, Clara knew she couldn’t stride into a vampire pub during a vampire war. That could just create more #tension and bloodshed.
She would have to wait for the perfect moment.
August 13, 2024 – Thanks
#Thanks to a series of unfortunate relationships, bad luck, and the constant maintenance of his curse, Benjamin was quick to suspicion.
August 14, 2024 – Thick/Thin
The early morning rays slipped through the #thin slots, and she squinted to make sense of the small figure approaching the entrance to her old apartment complex.
August 15, 2024 – Torch
He’d ripped thirty pounds of bayonets from his back that were keeping him pinned to the ground, and then the sun rose and #torched him. Somehow the giant had managed to find refuge from the consuming light, despite taking an ungodly amount of abuse.
August 16, 2024 – Try/Tried
The deer #tried to bolt out of the way, but it was too late. Her teeth sank into its hind leg. The animal’s terror smelled sweet, and it fueled the wolf.
