By this time, the rain had begun to lessen. Thomas stumbled to a #halt, but not because he felt safer. He’d finally discovered the limits of his fortitude.

Thomas spun around and sprinted through the trees. This time he didn’t need to search for his inhuman speed. Fear and instinct took #hold and he ran faster than before, helping him with his footing.

Most men found her attractive, and Sean had #hit on her a couple of times before he’d realized she was immune to his charm and good looks.

Thomas inhaled—his mouth tasted of dust. He closed his mouth and sucked hard on the insides of his cheeks, secreting saliva, but it didn’t #help. His mouth still felt dry.

At least he was alive.

He burst through the doors of the prep area, nearly knocking off the hinges, and yanked at his medical gear. It was restrictive, suffocating him, making him sweat. That had to be it. That had to be why he felt so #hot. Why he couldn’t breathe.

The breeze shifted, and the potency of the group’s scent made it seem as if they were on top of her, surrounding her. She #halted, afraid.

Benjamin’s bored expression meant he wanted to say something else that was probably equally sarcastic, but he #held it in. His tendency to be snide was a sort of defense mechanism he’d developed through the years.

Through the fog of red, she barely made out Donald’s hybrid form fling the wolf away. It #hit a tree and slid down, whimpering piteously.

Clara had meant to keep her cool. She really had. But at the accusation that she might be associated with the vile her curse compelled her so strongly to hate, Clara could not #help but spit on the ground in disgust.

The Café Compendium was a well-kept bookstore that had aged like fine wine over the years, becoming more distinct and graceful as it stoically marched on through time. The Red Lightning Pub, while sharing a similar age, was more like yogurt left outside in the #hot sun all day.
