Thomas leaned forward, but the room spun and he fell back down, smacking his skull onto the cold, hardwood #floor. He groaned. He was alive, but he wasn’t sure he was safe.

At the #first heavy knock, Clara threw open the door and hugged Sean. His neck smelled human, a musty flesh scent mixed with salt and oils, but the vampire stench clung to his hoodie and backpack.

She found him in his usual spot. Sprawled across a couch with several books and old videocassette tapes heaped randomly on the #floor nearby. She would never understand how someone could possibly spend more time agonizing over which book to read or movie to watch than reading or watching them.

As someone who had turned skepticism into an art form, there were #few things that caught Benjamin so off guard. This was one of them. He fell back down onto the couch, his face blank as he tried to comprehend the magnitude of what she’d just said.
