“Not knowing about territories nearly got him killed tonight, Vivian. It’s best the lad learn the #game now,”

Thomas clenched his hand and the glass shattered in his #grip. Jagged, razor sharp pieces littered the bar and floor, tinkling like chimes tossed by the wind.

He felt feeble, but the hunger inside continued to #grow. An energy emanated from within him.

The nineteen-year-old boy at the register shot Thomas a suspicious #glance as he shakily put a huge water bottle on the counter.

Several wicked looking lawn gnomes with mischievous expressions etched in their ceramic faces stared back at Thomas a few feet from the steps, each one holding a different musical instrument as if they were members of a rock band. They’d been a novelty #gift Artemis had received years ago and was as much a marker for her location as her actual address.

“The streets were packed tighter than a can of sardines. Caught us off #guard. We might’ve gotten here faster by runnin’, but your ma didn’t wanna be offendin’ the driver.”

“Exactly. It’s all mental.” Julia #granted him another dazzling smile. “If you think that way, it’ll be easier to control the thirst. You’ll adjust quicker.”

It’d been such a causal #gesture. He hadn’t meant to put any power into the swing of his hand. What if he’d been trying to apply pressure to a wound? He could have shattered someone’s bones.

Clara was battling Chelsea in a close #game of air hockey when a hand clapped down on her shoulders, making her jump and nearly smack Donald with her red paddle.

Benjamin’s knuckles turned white from his #grip on the steering wheel. He opened his mouth to speak but only a guttural growl came out. His lips peeled back, revealing pearly fangs.

It took a moment for Clara to #grow accustomed to the sensation of being in control. Everything seemed more vibrant. The smells in the air painted the scene with a hundred different stories, and she could trace with ease the paths of the creatures that had visited this part of the woods.

“What he means is that I need information, not a potion,” Clara said, shooting a sharp #glance at her brother.

Confusion, guilt, anxiety, uncertainty—these were the feelings of a human mind, of a mind that found complexity a #gift and not a burden.

The wolf inside was something that couldn’t be tamed. Not ever. Clara knew some members of the pack who had forgotten and let their #guard down or, even more foolishly, thought they had finally managed to leash their curse.

The moonlight fueled the curse’s power, #granting her additional strength and stamina.

Sean grumbled, moving his hands. Probably an obscene #gesture, but Clara couldn’t see around her brother.
