As he #gained more momentum, Thomas’ foot snagged a thick root.

He launched face first in an uncontrollable tumble as his foot ripped the root from the ground, showering dirt all around him. He hit the ground and rolled until he slammed into a tree.

Vivian stopped in front of him and turned, her face a #ghost in the moonlight.

“Hey, no worries, right?” Nelson said with the #ghost of a smile. “If I didn’t get caught up in your mess, it would have been one of Sean’s.”

“That’s a long time to be#grudge someone for simply defending himself. If I recall correctly, we both walked away from the incident.”

Clara gulped. Usually the wolf remained in control after she made her kill, but it always wandered back to the Lodge where she’d wake up sprawled somewhere in the #grass in human form.

Slipping into the #gap left open by the wolf from its feeding, Clara took control of the wolf form. Just like Donald had said, it was natural to her, as if her mind preferred the lupine form.

Clara’s stomach sank as she reached for the shop’s #glass door.

The vampires’ cold war had gone hot, and this looked to be #ground zero.
